Q: Are your Guns Plastic?
A: Generally speaking no.  KAR does not like Plastic! However, some movie guns that need to be super cheap will be either constructed of plastic or resin.  These guns are restricted to our "Resin" page, or notated as "Resin".  The material of our guns is never disguised, but 98% of everything we have is all metal.

Q: Are any of your guns PFC (Plug Fire Cap) guns?

A: Right now, no.  PFC guns are guns that cycle 1, 2, or 3 piece brass shells that are loaded individually with caps that fire and cycle the action.  These "Caps" use a type of powder/propellant that is corrosive to both metal and plastic.  They require much cleaning and vigilant maintenance.  They are also very "Quiet" compared to a real blank firing only gun.  Sometimes these are called "Blank guns" but that is a misnomer. A PFC gun is not a true blank gun, not even close, and does not provide enough satisfaction, if used as intended, to justify the maintenance.  They are also in general, "Jam Prone".  That's why KAR will always try to avoid these guns.

Q: I just bought a Thompson.  Can I get an extra Drum mag for it?
A: Yes, we also have extra 20 and 30 round magazines.

Q: How fast will I get my Order, and how do you ship?
A: We ship within 48 hours gaurenteed, unless you order a custom gun.  Custom Guns generally take no more than 5 days, (Unless we need to wait for parts) with many shipping same day. We ship UPS, USPS or Priority insured. It generally takes from 4 to 8 days.

Q: How much do you have in stock right now. Or at any given time?
A:  KAR has Thousands of guns in  the warehouse at any given time.

Q: I saw a gun you carry cheaper on another website.  Will you match the price?
A:  Our Shiping rates might be better, so check that first.  We keep our prices as low as possible, and undercharge slightly on shipping costs.  However, we can generally match a lower advertised price, and prices do change, so please,  Give us a call.

Q: I am making a small Western Short Film/Commercial.  Can you assist us in selecting period appropriate firearms, and can you help our Actors learn how to do tricks with and handle a Cowboy Six-shooter?
A: Yes, we have folks on staff who can offer insight into proper firearm selection, as well as weapons experts who can train any actor to handle his onscreen weapon. We can also train in trick pistol handling, Fastdraw, and the best ways to carry firearms on horseback, and holstered.

Q: I am a WWII re-enactor.  Can you give our squad a group discount?
A: Yes, The Management at KAR are Amateur Wolrd War II and Wild West Historians.  We enjoy helping the re-enacting community in any way possible.  It's one of the reasons we are constantly seeking new weapons, and building custom replicas for WWII era and Wild West Impressions.  Give us a call, we would love to chat with you.

Q: I live outside the US.  Can you ship your items to me?
A: Yes, As long as we don't know the item ISN'T illegal.  For example, we can't ship modern replicas to Canada, or NSW Australia, etc.  Always check local laws before ordering.  Click here for more info.

Q: Do you guys ever sell on Ebay or Amazon?
A: Yes, and no.  We sell on Ebay, but not yet on Amazon...it's on our list for 2010. for our ebay auctions, click here.

Q: Are your Thompsons and Garands made by Denix?
A: Yes, and no. We have 2 Garands.  One made by Marushin, which is an airsoft, and the second is sort of Denix, sort of not...I will explain, and forgive me for what I know is going to be a long reply.

I am a collector too.  I have been collecting for many many years, and I am/was spoiled on the good old guns from Japan.  So, I don't like junk.  I won't sell junk.  I will also always give you as honest an opinion as I can, and an opinion from the perspective of a fella' who has been collecting high quality replica guns since 1969.

I don't even like to mention the name Denix, because as you know, that name is synonymous with crap.  Simple.  I remember their junk when they opened in 1977, and in comparison to the, then in production, MGC guns they looked even worse than they do today.  I don't carry those guns.  That being said......in 2005 Denix had a fire.  It wiped out nearly the whole shootin' match, and they basically had to go back to square one.  BUT, they went back to square one with near 30 years experience.  Furthermore, when they rebuilt, they hired a new design team, all young guys, they installed the newest computers and the latest CAD software, and they began making new models.  These models, are VERY VERY GOOD, and the best they ever made.  I think of those guns as being from the "New Denix" The MP-40 for example is something to get very excited about.  Just a note here...some of the old molds were not destroyed, like the Peacemakers and other junk revolvers, so those are still horrible...The only ones you will find on our site are the 2 economy peacemakers, and only because of popular demand....Be that as it may, since their re-open in 2006, Denix has introduced about 2 guns per year.  All excellent.  So is the Denix Garand good?...in my opinion, Yes.  I like it very much.  Is it as good as a Hudson or a Smokies brand?  No way, BUT, it doesn't cost 1500USD either.

As with all of the Denix rifles we carry, we used to sell the factory versions.  As of November 2009, no more.  This is what we now do;  Although, it does make more work for us, and causes miscellaneous logistical nightmares, what we do is buy the parts from Denix direct.  We then hand assemble and finish them in our shop.  You see, the Denix guns are good, but they lack a little bit in the way of refinement, finish and fit.  We fix that here, and hand inspect every part, (No joke!) and send back the rejects at the end of the month....We reject parts for reasons generally centered around fit and weak casting.  You wouldn't see it if we used those rejected parts, but in the long run it makes a difference.  Our hand assembly guarantees a perfect hand tuned action, and perfect finish.  Something Denix can never do.  Furthermore, since our guns are built using only flawlessly casted parts, they are stronger and will last longer. The hand finishing process also means we can offer custom finishes like weathering, and Parkerizing.  An ultra flat finish, or a high gloss for parade guns.....So are our guns Denix?....Well...Denix designed for sure, but our fingerprints are all over it. If you saw one of ours next to a stock Denix, you would definitely see a difference.  Again, I must stress that we do these things because we are collectors too.

Now as far as the Garand goes, we are working on a V2....It's a simple modification really, but what we are doing is adding 2 dummy 30.06 rounds to the guns clipwell.....So when you rack the charging handle, you will see the dummy ammo!  It won't cycle, but it will add another level of realism to the Garand. By the way, one of the finishes that is becoming very popular is a slightly weathered finish, dark brown walnut stock, and a parkerized charging handle.  It does look fantastic that way......Super-realistic!

Sorry for the long answer to your question, but as you can see it was/is no easy "Yes or No" answer....Now, the M1A1 Thompson, is a KAR exclusive, and we build them right here.  They use a happy amalgamation of some Denix Parts, Custom Parts, and genuine Thompson Parts....These guns are amazing!  I hope this info helps. Thanks again, we're here when you need us, and never hesitate to ask anything.

Cheers Brother,

Gary C.
